Times Higher Education has opened registration for the 2021 Impact Rankings, which measure global universities’ success in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Universities around the world may now register to take part in the third edition of the ranking, ahead of the opening of the data submission period in the autumn. The ranking is open to all accredited universities that teach undergraduates, and there are no fees or costs to participate.
Universities will be able to submit data from 1 October until 30 November 2020, and the ranking will be published in April 2021 at the THE Innovation and Impact Summit in China. The data collected from universities will be combined with information from Elsevier to produce an overall ranking of universities as well as separate rankings of institutions that are best achieving the individual SDGs.
The ranking, which launched in 2019, includes metrics based on all 17 SDGs, with measures including universities’ use of secure employment contracts, their policies on academic freedom and their share of senior female academic staff. In just two years, it has grown to include 860 universities from 89 countries and regions across six continents.
