Top-up pensions contributions

Andrew Oswald ("Richer than you thought", THES, April 14; "The pension millionaire game", April 28) has shown how niggardly our pension providers can be.

What is especially galling to those of us who have put up with poor salaries for more than 30 years is to discover that our employers want us to labour on after the age of 65 - in order to bolster the research assessment exercise ratings - but they are unwilling to continue making employers' contributions to the USS.

Our remuneration package is reduced by this pusillanimous attitude. Should we be "naming and shaming" those universities that are not exercising this right to go on making employers' contributions? Who are the good employers?
