You say that education suffers because teaching gets no respect (Leader, 10 September). This must change, and academics must start with themselves, you add. I find it lamentable that Times Higher Education criticises academics for neglecting teaching. Through your international proselytising of a flawed ranking system that gives no value to it, you tell academics, students and citizens that teaching does not count. If you want to help, you should abolish the Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings.
